PROUD HAITIAN-AMERICAN SONGSTRESS RELEASES NEW VIDEO IN HONOR OF HAITIAN FLAG DAY
MIAMI—MAY 17, 2014—Phyllisia Ross proudly announces the release of her new video for her single, “Konsa,” in honor of Haitian Flag Day. “Konsa” exemplifies the true essence of music—sincere lyrics and a melody that everyone can enjoy.
More than just an example of music’s beauty, “Konsa” is a song about love. Written by Michael Benjamin and Phyllisia, the lyrics of “Konsa” describe what it feels like to have unconditional and eternal love, be it the love of a romantic partner or friends and family. “I was inspired to write a song that people could relate to, but also one that incorporates a fusion of Zouk and Compas music sounds of Haiti,” explains Phyllisia.
Haitian Flag Day, which takes place every year on the 18th of May, is a celebration of the origin of Haiti’s flag. Each year, Haitian and Haitian-Americans around the world pay homage to the red and blue symbol of Haiti’s struggle for freedom. “It’s such an important holiday in our culture that I wanted to release a beautiful song and video that honors my people,” said Phyllisia about the holiday.
Phyllisia has collaborated with a number of international superstars including Jah Cure on “Call On Me,” (watch “Call On Me” on YouTube) “Unconditional Love,” and “Praises to Jah.” She has also worked with Neyo, Flo-Rida, Young Joc, The Game, and Young Jeezy. Phyllisia expects to release her next album early next year. Fans can expect to hear more of Phyllisia’s as a Haitian Compas and Zouk vocalist.
